The Neuromythographic Method

I had to invent a method for doing neuromythography. I use pretty basic tools.

One key technique that I use is mapping fMRI studies onto the Human Connectome Project-derived Glasser parcellation. Obtaining study data and running it through the processing pipeline that Glasser et al produced is time-consuming and beyond the technical skills that I wish to acquire. So I have learned to eyeball fMRI images instead. One has to go through a layer of indirection to get there: mapping an fMRI “image blob” to a surgical reference, and mapping that reference to the more abstract model of the Glasser map. This is a rote skill that I have developed, and it is a necessary skill for the intrepid neuromythographer to develop.
